Hello guys, this is Vaughan F!

I’m not exactly as… formal as James is going to be in his blogs, but i hope you enjoy them!

This is MY first proper post, and i’m going to just outline some of the upcoming things you’ll be able to find here, as we upload them. James and I outlined that we are upcoming writers, and whilst you can view updates from The Speculum Aeturnus, i’ll also be uploading some of my own stuff for you to view…

- first off, I’ll be giving updates on Terrenials, which is my first solo book. It is finished, and as soon as i can i’ll upload a taster. I’ll also be updating you guys on how the publishing process is going.

- secondly, i have an upcoming project called Chrome. This is still in the works, but i’ll still upload a sample for you to enjoy. i’m hoping to finish the book by the end of February.

- plus, for all you BLEACH fans out there, i will be starting a small fan fiction in my spare time! this won’t be published, but small short story ‘episodes’ will be uploaded as soon as i do them. comment if you like, if you have some ideas for me to do, or whatever.

If you enjoy the blog, and the writing with it, then please comment! we appreciate any (good) feedback we get, thanks!

New year’s resolutions – two days late

January 3, 2010 at 5:43 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

The power of the written word is simply staggering. It knows no equal. When words and letters are placed in the correct sequence, they can transport those who read them to entirely new and alien worlds. They can preserve information indefinitely; when something is written - upon a page, in a book, or indeed, on a blog - it is forever fortified, freed from the lonely confines of an individual’s mind to shout its message to those who will listen or read. Not only that, but they reinforce the truth, and make it more real. Something that is written, that has a concrete base in the material world, is far more likely to have an impact than thoughts in someone’s head, abstract and powerless. With this in mind, I have decided to write out my new year’s resolutions here, so that everyone who visits can see them, and thus give my words the maximum impact upon myself.

New year’s resolutions for 2010;

1: I shall never eat at a fast food resturant again.

2: I shall take light exercise for at least an hour a day.

3: I shall make at least one entry every day of this year into our blog.

Though there are only three resolutions, I know I can stick to them, and I know they will make a difference in my life. By not overloading myself with 101 resolutions, I can focus all my attention on fulfiling them without being swamped by several commitments at once. And by writing them here, I have reinforced my thoughts and strengthened my conviction, so that I am more likely to see them through to the end.

Tomorrow, I will write an overview of The Speculum Aeternus, and The Twin Swords, the first of the books for the plannned series. Please read them, as they will introduce you to the concepts and characters of the book, as well as explain the basic plot for The Twin Swords. Excerpts from the book will follow shortly after.

Thank you for your time,

James C

Hello world!

January 1, 2010 at 12:04 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

Hey everyone!

As it’s the new year, a time for new beginnings, We thought now would be as good a time as any to start this blog, the purpose of which is threefold. The first and foremost reason is to improve our writing skills outside of the book we are currently writing, entitled ‘The Speculum Aeternus’, with the subheading ‘The Twin Swords’, and the second is to bring said book out into the eyes of the general public, so that if anyone so chooses, they can read, appreciate and hopefully enjoy as a genuine work of fiction. As this is just an introductorary post, we will go into the plot of ’The Twin Swords’ another time.

The third and final reason, is to document the painful journey from laptop drafts to final publication, with all the misadventures that ensue, so that anyone who wants to write or publish a book of their own can use our posts as a reference, and hopefully avoid the mistakes we will inevitably make. Of course, things might sometimes be slow going, so I shall also write about interesting experiences in flowing prose (strictly tying in with the original purpose of this blog) which you can read or ignore if you so choose.

We hope you enjoy reading our accounts and stories!

James C and VF.
